SOAPSTONE CARVING WORKSHOP

Join us as we explore the grounding effects of carving and working with soapstone in this unique workshop. Together we will be creating a beautiful heart pendant while discussing the teachings that these grandfathers/grandmothers carry. Register today as spots as spots are sure to fill quickly! Kits are limited to the first 13 registered members living within the immediate Toronto area (members who have their own materials are welcome to register as well).

MEDICINE MAKING WORKSHOP

Join us as we learn and explore the benefits of our Traditional Medicines with Grandmother Judy Sackaney. We will be making Sweetgrass and Cedar Oils, a Sage Spray (great for smudge if you have sensitivities to smoke) as well as a tea to help boost your immune system. Program kits will be provided to the first 20 registered members located in the immediate Toronto area. Registration will remain open for members who would like to join to learn and engage.

TRADITIONAL TEACHINGS

Indigenous teachings have been traditionally passed down through generations and have withstood the trials of time. In this modern day, we welcome you to join us online to learn Traditional Teachings from Nations across Turtle Island. During the months of February and March, we will be welcoming Dawn who will be doing a unique 4-part series on Haudenosaunee understandings and language.

TRADITIONAL SONGS & LANGUAGES

The heart of our Nations beats to the sounds of our drums and through the words of our songs and languages. By learning and carrying our songs with us on this red path, we not only revitalize our culture, we are reclaiming our spaces and ceremonies. The Traditional Songs & Languages program aims to honour and respect our Nations’ songs and the teachings each carries, while learning and practising our Traditional Languages. Virtual Bingo is back again!

THREE (3) lucky winners will get to pick a special Solstice prize this month.

Each participant will play one card, and we will be playing a total of 3 games, all virtually! This month for Winter Solstice, winners will be receiving a special prize.

SENIORS SUPPORTING SENIORS

Are you over 55? Are you looking to connect with like-minded community members? This unique program will offer support, friendship and laughter while learning and sharing healthy habits, traditional teachings, and other various topics including ‘Coming-out’ and ‘Being Alone but not Lonely’. This program intends to be flexible with members’ needs while addressing issues of everyday life. This one-of-a-kind program offers a feature to members who would like to remain anonymous, using an animal of their choice as their program Identity.

TRADITIONAL NAMING CEREMONY

This special ceremony is being held for our 2-Spirit members by Elder Blu Waters and will be completed in two separate virtual meetings (and throughout the nights in between with Spirit). This unique opportunity is provided for members who wish to learn their Spirit Names, Clans and Colours and to gain a deeper connection to the self and the Great Spirit.
