Youth Talking Circle

Join us on November 7th 2025, from 3:30PM to 5:00PM at 2126 Danforth Avenue for our Youth Talking Circle with Stanley Njootli Sr. from Old Crow!

This circle is intended for Indigenous youth from ages 16-29 years old. Participants will be expected to engage in discussion throughout the circle.

This event is a collaboration with The Power Plant, in anticipation of Jeneen Frei Njootli’s upcoming free art exhibition for Fall of 2025.

For the Fall 2025 exhibition at The Power Plant, Frei Njootli presents new and recent works that challenge how Indigenous life is represented and consumed. Drawing from their connection to the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation, Njootli explores themes of ancestral memory, knowledge sharing, labour, love, kinship, and relationships to the land.

In conjunction with the exhibition—opening November 6, 2025—Jeneen Frei Njootli’s father, Stanley Njootli Sr., will join his family for the opening and facilitate a land-based knowledge-sharing circle with local Indigenous youth. Deeply immersed in traditional practices such as muskrat trapping, Stanley is now semi-retired but continues to hunt, trap, and teach youth in Old Crow, sharing his wisdom and helping ensure the survival of traditional knowledge.
