Youth-led self-defence Taekwondo class

📅 Thursday, March 19, 2026 | 12PM – 3PM

📍 2126 Danforth Avenue, Toronto

Join us on Thursday March 19th, 2026, from 12PM-3PM for our first youth-led self-defence Taekwondo class for 2-Spirited and Indigenous youth at our Woodbine site located at 2126 Danforth Ave, Toronto. This is a beginner class with no experience needed.

The Waabizheshiwag Youth Group is hosting an Indigenous Resistance with Taekwondo self-defence session. This initiative is youth-led for Indigenous youth ages 12–18. The youth leading the program all earned their black belts before the age of 14 and are registered with their black belt certification cards. They are Cree from Treaty 9.

They want to use their knowledge of Taekwondo to support other Indigenous youth by sharing self-defense skills, building confidence, and creating a space rooted in community care. The program will also incorporate Indigenous language and cultural teachings, encouraging youth to strengthen both their physical skills and cultural identity.

Space is limited, so please register early if you can. If you are under the age of 16, a parent or guardian must also register with you in the same registration form.
