NEW MOON CEREMONY WITH JUDY SACKANEY

During this virtual ceremony, members will gain traditional teachings of the New Moon Ceremony lead by Judy Sackaney – Wachi Medowin, Traditional Grandmother. The first 20 2-Spirit members to register (living in the immediate Toronto area) will be provided sacred medicines to add to their bundles as well as a labradorite stone. PRIDE AT NIGHT – QUANAH STYLE

Quanah Style is Canada’s most infamous 2-spirit trans recording artist and house music diva. From coast to coast, there are few dance floors who haven’t felt her presence. After a brilliant run of singles on Wet Trax, Quanah became a festival fixture, performing her anthemic hits with vogue dance crew House of La Douche. Music videos for songs such as her debut single ‘Beat of My Heart’ and the Storyhive award-recipient ‘Give Me Life’ showcased Quanah’s undeniable star-quality. Her incredible stage presence, signature vocals, and inspirational story led her to become the subject of several documentaries produced by CBC Arts, World of Wonder Productions, APTN and Vice Magazine. She has also opened for Peaches, Bif Naked, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Snotty nose Rez kids and more

It’s not a pride party without a dance party! That’s right, DJ Fawn Big Canoe is your friendly queer DJ from Tkaronto and a proud Chippewa from Georgina Island. A favourite dj at iconic events and venues like Pride Toronto, Indigenous Peoples Day at Fort York, The ROM and Ontario Place, Fawn has also produced and DJ’ed a multitude of dance parties, ranging from underground queer raves to top 40 pop offs. She has been a potent part of this city’s nightlife for decades. Fawns dj sets melt together with an effortless execution all while radiating messages of positivity, love, togetherness and the importance of having a good time. Tune in on Saturday June 26th, 2021 from 7pm EST to enjoy some tunes and amazing performances. More performers to be announced soon, you won’t want to miss it.

Next up for Pride at Night we have Nimkish! To fully immerse in the multitudes of Indigenous rising star Nimkish is to honour the past, look ahead to the future, and bask in the resplendent present all at once. The Vancouver-based marvel-in-the-making is fearless in her lyricism, confronting anti-Indigenous racism and colonial violence alongside other hard subjects like anxiety, grief and heartache. Tune in via Zoom on Saturday June 26th, 2021 from 7pm for performances from Nimkish and more!

Also known as Midnight Wolverine, Mx Wolverine is Tkaronto’s midnight tease, trickster, and shapeshifter. This Dene/Metis 2S burlesque and drag performer from Treaty 8 territory is going to be gracing the stage for our Pride at Night programming on Saturday June 26th, 2021.
