Aanii, my name is Saige McMahon (she/her), I’m an Anshinaabekwe settler mix from Treaty 3, Rainy River First Nations. Due to colonization and residential schools, my grandmother Ella was forced to lose a lot of our culture. My grandmother was once fluent in Anishinaabemowin, however she stopped speaking her language out of fear. Grandma Ella taught her children and many grandchildren so many important lessons, she showed us all so much love and laughter. This bursary is to support an Indigenous youth in learning their language, to carry on the knowledge of our past and present to the many generations to come.

This is eligible to any Indigenous (First Nations, Metis or Inuit) youth living in Ontario who are learning their language.
This bursary is dedicated to Ella McMahon, Giizhig Ga Ikwe.
BURSARY AMOUNT $ 2,400.00
